A Ski Weekend

Friday, Louie and I decided to go skiing up at Silver Mountain.  We left when it was snowing...the drive was slow going to the mountain.  We made it to the gondola...road up...took one run with pelting ice balls indenting our skin, and decided it wasn't a ski day for us.  We took the gondola back down, and was able to exchange our passes back in.  We decided to hit up the local Sam's Hamburger joint for lunch, and drove back...just in time to do some more shoveling!  Woo hoo!

I researched a little about our snowfall in the month of December and found this article...which said..."In about ten years, the Earth will enter a 'new little ice age' that will last from 60 to 80 years or more."  Now that doesn't look promising.  But I did find that our snow fall for the month of December is between 85-90 inches...that is 7 feet!  I told you it is ridiculous.

We tried our luck at Schweitzer Mountain on Sunday.  Ashley's brother was in a ski race up at the mountain, so she had asked if we wanted to join her on a ski adventure up at Schweitzer.  Since Louie's parents gave us passes up at this mountain...we decided to try our luck!  It turned out to be an AWESOME day...with the sunshine even peaking out a little bit here and there!  Love ski days like that.   Let's also mention that the first run my legs were already burning.  Man I am out of shape!  It was a good day with beautiful views!

I was trying to capture Lake Pend Orielle...it was breath taking...but pictures just never do it justice.  Louie and I were amazed at how little of snow there was.  We are used to driving up to Schweitzer and there would be mounds of snow, two times taller than your car.  I honestly believe that we have more snow at our house than at this mountain!  We looked up the snow report and it would either say the exact same amount of snow we accumulated at our house, or even LESS!  Heck...we should just hit up the local hills next to our house!  It would be cheaper!

The weekend also was an attempt to eat all of the bad things in our house...cause starting today, Mom, Louie and I are all counting calories...to attempt to lose some of this weight.  I am going to try to stay within 1500-1700 calories a day.  Which with no activity...I should lose 1 pound a week.   It really is amazing how many calories are in foods.  I ate a banana this morning...which cost me 110 calories...who would've thought!  So for my breakfast already...I am at 325 calories.  This is gonna be tough...but I am ready.

P1041219 The crazies at the end of the day...we had a good time tearing up Schweitzer Mountain...Are your legs sore...cause mine sure are!

Oh yeah...My car almost got towed.  Louie and I found a spot right in the front of the lot...not noticing the "for employees only sign" until we were already parked and dressed.  We decided to risk it.  At the end of the day...an employee caught Louie and said he was just about to call in the tow truck...phew!  It beats walking the extra miles in all our snow gear though!
